SCI aims to rely solely on 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

The global challenge of climate change is widely acknowledged, with the entire world collectively confronting its repercussions. A shared awareness and collaborative effort to address this issue are evident, underscored by the commitment of international organizations to establish targets aimed at curtailing the rise in greenhouse gas emissions. These emissions constitute the primary catalyst for the escalating global temperatures and the resulting climate change crisis facing the world.

SCI shares a similar commitment. Our goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030 and attain net-zero status by 2050. Being a manufacturer, it is crucial for us to use energy and resources efficiently in the production and development of products. Our business growth goals unavoidably involve an increased use of resources and energy, so achieving the carbon-neutral goal requires a transition from using fossil fuels to maximizing the use of renewable energy.

Presently, we have installed 4.5 megawatts of solar power that has been operational since 2015. Over this period, it has consistently generated more than 30,000 megawatt-hours, resulting in emission reduction of over 17,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. Looking ahead, we have strategic plans to augment our sustainable energy capacity by installing an additional 1 megawatt in the remaining areas in 2024.

However, this constitutes merely 10% of SCI's electricity requirements. Consequently, we recognize the imperative to seek external sources for additional renewable energy. In pursuit of this objective, SCI has actively participated in the ERC sandbox pilot project initiated by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC). In the initial phase, SCI has formalized an agreement to conduct system testing at 0.1 megawatts, with the testing of the trading platform set to commence in April. The overarching plan involves progressively increasing our renewable energy procurement until it reaches 100%. With this steadfast commitment, SCI aims to rely solely on 100% renewable electricity by 2030, aligning with our established goal.
