During the past three years, despite the significant impact of the COVID-19 situation on society, many CSR activities related to social responsibility were put on hold due to social distancing policies. However, our company has remained committed to conducting business with a focus on safety, environmental conservation, and promoting community economic development.

The company has gathered the results of its activities in social responsibility in line with the Creating Shared Value approach. These activities have been implemented continuously and have shown increasing progress compared to the previous year, reflecting the company’s commitment to good corporate governance practices and its awareness of social responsibility towards communities and the environment. The company aims to meet the needs and expectations of stakeholders and focuses on consistent implementation to achieve sustainable outcomes, aligning with the goal of elevating the organization to the level of Green Industry 5 : Green Network.

Objectives

Local Community Support for Social Sustainability

To grow the business sustainably while also helping communities and society become stronger and more independent, SCI aims to cover 10 surrounding communities according to the policy to elevate the company to Green Industry level 5.

Beyond Disability: Building Inclusive Careers

To improve the quality of life and increase income for people with disabilities in the community, SCI provides them with employment opportunities, encouraging them to be able to rely on themselves which will benefit society as a whole.

Refurbishment: From Trash to Teach

SCI refurbished machines and production items to support teaching and learning materials for educational institutions or government sectors, giving them a new purpose, and extending their useful life.

Jitdee CE Project, From Waste to Wealth

SCI initiated the Jitdee CE project, aiming to craft CE products from waste material, specifically plastic packing strips.This initiative promotes community enterprises by emphasizing the participation of all sectors in creating changes, improving the quality of life while protecting the environment through the use of circular economy principles, and promoting the added value of waste to maximize the use of natural resources.

“Building Weirs, Planting Forests and Vetiver Grass Project” by Mitsubishi Electric Asia (Thailand) Ltd

Siam Compressor Industry Co., Ltd. (SCI), Mitsubishi Electric Thai Foundation, and other companies under Mitsubishi Electric Group in Thailand collaborated on building weirs, planting forests, and vetiver grass projects. This collaborative effort is geared toward achieving environmental, societal, and national development to strive for ongoing improvement in quality, in full alignment with the mission of the organization, "Changes for the better."

Taking care of communities outside our company

The company assisted the society during the COVID-19 outbreak by donating respiratory aids, money, face masks, hand sanitizer gel, and drinking water to hospitals and neighboring communities.

Project aims to employ persons with disabilities, creating jobs and livelihoods

From 2018 to 2023, for over 6 years, the company has implemented the “Employing Persons with Disabilities, Creating Jobs, and Generating Livelihoods” project in collaboration with the Municiple Office of Chao Phraya Surasak, Sriracha District, Chonburi Province. The project is supported with an annual budget of over three million baht.

Refurbishment

The company collaborates with various educational institutions in academic activities, hence implementing projects to refurbish and repurpose unused equipment and materials in line with the concept of the Circular Economy.

Creating a Circular Society in SCI with the Recycle Everyday

For over 15 years, the company has carried on waste separation for donation from recyclable materials such as aluminum cans, glass bottles, and plastic bottles. This initiative originated from the employees’ consciousness and involved collecting the waste and donating it to the Karunyawet Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupation for Disabled Persons.

On December 26, 2022, the kick-off event for the “Recycle Everyday” project took place at SCI Foodhall with the aim of transforming waste disposal behavior and turning organic waste into valuable resources. The campaign started by promoting waste separation during the SCI Green Carnival and setting up recycling bins throughout the company.

“Building Weirs, Planting Forests and Vetiver Grass Project”

The company participated in CSR activities with the Mitsubishi Electric Asia (Thailand) Foundation and the Mitsubishi Electric Group in Thailand on an annual basis. In 2022, we joined the activity of “Building Weirs, Planting Forests and Vetiver Grass” to alleviate the problem of water scarcity during the dry season. We created 4 weirs, planted 800 Mahogany, Pradu, Takian, and Rubber tree seedlings, and planted 30,000 vetiver grass in the forest community of Ban Khao Yai, located in Khachanrak village area of Phluang Thong Sub-district, Bo Thong District, Chonburi Province.

Community Relations Activities around the SCI’s Neighborhood

The company recognizes the importance of community relations and actively engages in communication with the surrounding communities and local government agencies, such as the Lamchabang Municipality. Clear guidelines are established, and continuous planning and collaboration with the community are implemented to maintain and promote a positive relationship in various aspects.
